SwimSet keeps your swimming on your own devices

SwimSet plans a pool workout on iPhone, guides it on Apple Watch or a Garmin watch, and records it to Health. None of that reaches us.

Effective 28 September 2026 iOS, watchOS and Garmin Connect IQ

SwimSet collects nothing. The app has no servers, no accounts and no analytics, and makes no internet connections of its own, so there is no channel through which your data could be sent to us or to anyone else. The one third-party component is Garmin's Connect IQ companion SDK, which is used only if you connect a Garmin watch, and only to pass a session to that watch through Garmin Connect on your iPhone.

Health data it reads

With your permission, SwimSet reads the following from Apple Health to compare the swims you completed against the session it planned, and to suggest what to swim next:

All of it is read on your device and used on your device. Apple Health governs this access: you grant it, you can see it, and you can revoke it at any time in the Health app, under Sharing → Apps. SwimSet works with whatever you allow, and says on screen when something it asked for was not available.

Health data it writes

The iPhone app never writes to Health. It asks only for read access.

When you swim a session, SwimSet on Apple Watch runs the workout and saves the completed workout to Health the way Apple's own Workout app does. That record is yours, in your Health database, and you can delete it there.

What is stored on your device

Your preferences and plans stay in the app's own storage on the device that made them: session length, focus, level, pool, the equipment you said you have, custom workouts you built, and the training profile the app derives from your completed swims. On Apple Watch, the current session is written to disk so the set list stays readable in the pool with no phone and no signal, and is shared with the SwimSet complication through a private app group.

Deleting SwimSet removes all of it. Health data is not part of the app's storage and remains in Health until you delete it there.

Garmin watches

If you connect a Garmin watch, SwimSet hands Garmin Connect on your iPhone the session you chose to send — its sets, distances, rests and titles — and Garmin Connect carries it to the SwimSet app on your watch over Bluetooth. SwimSet keeps the name and identifier of the watches you picked so it can send to them again. Nothing else about you is sent, and nothing is sent until you connect a watch.

A swim you record on a Garmin watch is saved by the watch to your Garmin account, the way Garmin's own activities are. That is governed by Garmin's privacy policy, not this one. If you let Garmin Connect share with Apple Health, SwimSet reads that swim from Health like any other.

Photos and text you import

You can paste a written workout or pick a photo of a whiteboard, and SwimSet will read the sets from it. Recognition runs entirely on your device using Apple's Vision framework. The image is used to produce the text and is not copied into the app's storage, uploaded, or retained after the draft is created.

No tracking, no advertising, no sale of data

SwimSet does not track you across apps or websites, contains no advertising or attribution frameworks, and has nothing to sell or share, because it collects nothing in the first place.

What SwimSet is not

SwimSet describes what it measured. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose fatigue, injury, illness or readiness. Its training recommendations are a product implementation, not a clinically validated coaching algorithm.

Children

SwimSet is made for adult recreational swimmers and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If a future version of SwimSet handles data differently, this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the effective date above will change with it.
